The Tissington to Appleby Cycle Ride

This " BIG "cycle ride would be suitable for cyclists who can ride 50-60 miles a day.  It is ideal for the cyclist who wants to see plenty of our natural heritage by bike without any hassle.  We provide all the support and group camaraderie you require all you have to do is pedal!  This glorious route mainly follows the Pennine Cycleway Peaks, South Pennines and Dales.

The route starts at Tissington and follows the traffic free High Peak Trail and Longdendale Trail before leading onto to the last of the Summer Wine Country in the Southern Pennines.  The route then covers the South Pennine Moors before entering the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  The Scenery through the Dales is beautiful and takes in such villages as Ingleton- famous for its caves and waterfalls and the ancient village of Dent.  The route passes onto the quiet Eden Valley as it skirts around the Howgill Fells before reaching the final destination at Appleby-in-Cumbria.

Day One 55 Miles

Day one sees you starting at Tissington and finishing at Holmefirth.  Many of the miles today are on traffic free cycle paths. We take our lunch at the famous spa town of Buxton before heading into the Southern Pennines.  Here we skirt alongside the Ladybower Dam where the dambusters practised their famous routines. We then head over the moors for our overnight stop at Holmefirth.

Day Two 58 miles

Day two is an uphill start from Holmefirth and takes us across the eastern side of the Pennines to Hebden Bride for our lunch stop.  The afternoons route goes across Widdop moor and then quiet minor roads onto the historic twon of Settle for our second overnight stop.

Day Three 55 Miles

An exhilarating days cycling through the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  Passing through beautiful villages such as Dent and Ingleton (famous for its caves and waterfalls).  The market town of Sebergh will be our lunch stop .We then skirt the edge of the Howgill Fells before entering Cumbria and reaching our final destination- Appleby.
