In short: muddy and fun
In full: I ran this last year and was 30 seconds faster despite feeling fitter this year. I think (hope)the mud made it slower! A lovely course and well run race, would recommend it.

In short: Mud mud glorious mud!!
In full: Felt great and thought was going to get a PB but then hit the MUD so turned of my garmin and spent the rest of the run enjoying the delights of Sherwood forest.
Hard work but enjoyed it again a good family day out for the spectators too. Thanks Karen n Reg

In short: Last year it was snow and ice, this year it was mud. Either way its the best Xmas run
In full: Great race all off road on tracks. Organisation is faultless. This year it was muddy so no chance of a PB, but that didn't matter. Thanks to the marshals and all those involved.

In short: Should've worn my wellies!
In full: A very well organised race. The marshals were brilliant. A bit of a bottle neck start with the first hill going into Sherwood Forest completed by walking. Very muddy and puddles everywhere but if you don't like that, stick to road races :)! Decent T-Shirt at the end as well. Will definitely brave it next year!

In short: Sun comes out just in time !
In full: When we set off early on Sunday morning the weather was wild but was assured by the BBC that it would clear up - and as we approached Edwinstowe it did.
I thought this was a great challenging race and the massive puddles made it even more challenging. I'd bought some trail shoes and I'm glad I did - never put a foot wrong. This was my wife's first race (on her own) and she really enjoyed.
I don't reckon many would get a PB here and I reckon it's 2-3 minutes slower than road course but what the heck - it's a genuine trail race.
My one gripe was nothing to do with the organisers but was with a woman who when it came to one of the first big puddles just stopped and as we were in a group, left me with nowhere to go causing me to go into her back - then she started calling ME !!!
If you're not prepared to get wet and mucky don't do this race but if you are it's well worth it.

In short: Should be renamed the Puddle Jumper
In full: Lots of muddy puddles due to the rain, but this added to the fun really. No nasty hills but terrain was undulating. Nice fast descent to the finish. Good T-Shirt. Excellent organisation and cheery xmas tunes at the 5k mark. Lovely forest views.

In short: SO muddy, but I really enjoyed it!
In full: I psyched myself up for a thorough soaking as it rained all night and much of the early morning. Thankfully it stopped before the race. I foolishly thought this could be a PB opportunity as it is fairly flat. I was wrong! I hadn't expected the seriously sodden and muddy ground that lay ahead - my trainers were soaked through with mud in 3 mins and by 5k I was starting to suffer from trench-foot! I made the mistake of starting at the right place for my pace and then I spend ages trapped behind slower runners with earphones on :0( That said though, the sun was shining, it's a beautiful course, the marshals were great, reasonable entry price, free parking and good, clean facilities. Finally arriving at the end to find there were still small t-shirts left made this a perfect race! The t-shirt design is good too - I'll wear this one! Thanks Reg and Karen another well organised race!

In short: Good well organised race through nice countryside
In full: Excellent race, very well run. A good mix of abilities and a good race for all levels on a course that tests rather than challenges. The muddy conditions a bit of a test

In short: Lots of mud and lots of fun
In full: This was my first off road race and I really enjoyed it. It was very organised and the marshals did a good job of pointing out the slippiest bits of the course. I'll definitely be doing it again next year.

In short: Festive Run In Sherwood Forest
In full: Very well organised 10k along the trails of Sherwood Forest from the visitors centre at Edwinstowe. Really good facilities at the start/finish. Very wet weather leading up to the race meant lots of water on the course so not so fast today, but most enjoyable all the same. Decent value at £9 and a pretty good race t-shirt.

In short: Peppa and George like jumping in muddy puddles
In full: Fantastic morning. Normally in weather like that, I'd have rolled over and gone back to sleep, let alone jump on the trails. But today was fabulous. Brilliant marshals, a good course and loads to do for the wife and kids. The YHA opened up for coffee and all the shops in the Craft Centre were open for last minute Xmas gifts. There was even a Robin Hood festival afterwards. One of my favourite races of the year- cheers, Reg and Karen

In short: Muddy, muddy, muddy but great fun!
In full: The organisation was great and the marshals really made the race with their santa hats, encouragement and xmas music at every km! The mud made it challenging but it was worth it for the scenery and atmosphere

In short: Fantastic race! Excellent Organisation!
In full: Did this last year and had amazing frosty weather. This year the weather was pretty grim, but the race was just as good. Brilliant organisation, with every detail thought about. The Christmas themed marshals are great and made me smile despite the mud!

In short: Muddy but what a wonderful race!
In full: I wasn't anticipating so much mud however despite being absolutely caked in the stuff I loved this race.
I didn't beat my PB but I blame that on lack of training and puddle dodging :) However I know the course has the potential to set great PB's,
The hills are gentle with some great downhills to pick up your pace especially at the end towards the finish line.
Overall I loved it, it really made my moving to Edwinstowe worth it! See you all again next time :)

In short: most enjoyable and challenging
In full: My first trail run, loved the time graded start-felt my knee would hold me up so plumped for a sub 60 mins start position and got held up badly for the first half k-then decided to go too quick. The track was a mud bath with one or two nice hills. The race was quality with the only slight down side being the slight bottle neck at the start. Will be back next year. Lovely morning and nice t shirt-do it you won't be disappointed.

In short: An excellent race
In full: Having completed nearly 30 races this year, it is difficult not to have a favourite. This was the first running fo the Edwinstowe Christmas trail race, which promised to have everything. Situated in the heart of Sherwood Forest close to Nottinghamshire's Centre Parks and the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, this race was an ideal venue for a challenging trail event. The facilities provided by the local cricket club were excellent. On a glorious winter's day, the clear sky and hard frost, seemed to sharpen up the scenery in what was an exhilarating event. The race started with a relatively steep uphill section, that led past the Major Oak, although there did not seem to be any merry men or merry women about! The race was well marshalled as it twisted and turned, though a variety of delightful forestry scenes and the hills, dips and turns made it challenging, but also very interesting. And then, finally as you move towards the Finish, you exit from the woods on a downhill stretch that encourages you to finish with a metaphorical running flourish. Although this is not an event for a personal best, 'yes', it was my favourite event this year. Without being too brazen in my support for it, this is worth travelling for. It has everything.

In short: Outstanding in all respects.
In full: Thoroughly enjoyable run - PLEASE do it again next year. Minor glitches for me were that my sat nav followed the post code to a nearby village (but punched in Edwinstowe and soon sorted); there is a bit of a bottleneck at the start and it took a couple of minutes to get going; and we got lucky with the weather so the ground was frozen - it would have been a bit muddy in some parts otherwise. Well organised, super course - no hilly bits, no human or traffic queues either - one of the best - a definite 'do it again' run. THANKS.

In short: BRILLIANT.
In full: A BRILLIANT DAY. WELL ORGANISED, WELL MARSHALLED, LOVELY COURSE WHICH WAS WELL MARKED AS WELL AS BEING WELL MARSHALLED. PLENTY OF PARKING SPACES. NO NEED TO PEE IN THE FOREST!! A DECENT TEE SHIRT. MENTIONED AT THE FINISH WHICH IS UNUSUAL AS I AM NOT A CLUB MEMBER. THE WEATHER COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER AND I FEEL THAT THIS RACE COULD BE A CLASSIC 10K. PLEASE RUN IT AGAIN AND IF SPARED I WILL DEFINATELY BE THERE!!

In short: A glorious, 'great-to-be-alive' day for a fab race
In full: Bit of a wuss & concerned about possible slippy underfoot conditions, & one & a half hour journey there & back, but a return to running after long injury layoff made my mind to go, and so pleased I did. What a fab crispy morning, glorious scenery through Sherwood Forest, encouraging marshals, great trouble-free organisation & fab red t-shirt. Plus a sub-hour time(just, by 12 seconds!) - unexpected for me on the day - so a great occasion. Well done & thank you to all concerned. Definitely one for the annual must-do diary. Happy Christmas!
