Sherwood Pines

The 2010 Sherwood Pines 10K and 5K will take place on the 18th July with both races starting together at 11.30am. The family fun runs will take place once the main races have finished. This will be approximately at 1.00pm.

The Sherwood Pines attracted a record number of entrants in 2009 with a total of 741 finishers. We have restricted the numbers this year to maintain the quality of the race and ensure maximum enjoyment for the runners. We will update information relating to the number of entries as it may be necessary to close the entries prior to race day. We would advise anyone wishing to enter, to do so as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

The 10K and 5K runners will start together. The 5K runners will be recognisable by their orange numbers. The 5K runners peel off the 10K course approximately 400 metres before the finish. The 10K runners continue along the forest tracks before approaching the finish from a different direction. Please note this is not a 2 loop course- see course map for further information.

The course is fairly undulating but offers a nice variety of scenery. There are two drinks station on route at 3K and 7K. The ambience is fantastic with the main arena filled with spectators and picnickers. Several running clubs make it a club day out and bring their families and friends along. The free family fun runs after the main race add to the atmosphere. All children finishing receive a certificate.

The Forest has a wealth of activities to enjoy after the race including Go-ape, bike hire, Café, children’s adventure playgrounds and Robin Hoods Hideaway.

Unfortunately this year we have been unable to negotiate free parking so the usual Car parking charges apply- currently £3.00 for the day.
