Route Details Day
One Morecombe to After a quick wheel dip in the Irish sea we leave Morecombe on the wide cycling path which runs next to the River Lune and skirts around the historic city of Lancaster. Today is fairly gentle cycling to prepare the cycling legs. Great riding along the fringes of the Forest of Bowland plus great views of Ingleborough before our approach to Settle for an overnight stop. Day
Two A glorious days cycling. Today sees more challenging uphill sections but on the plus side we get some long exhilarating downhills. A steep climb out of Settle provides some amazing views. We pass through the quaint villages of Burnsall and Appletreewick and the bustling Patley Bridge. The afternoon takes us through Fountains Abbey. Overnight accommodation will be in the Ripon area, an attractive cathedral city with lots of history. Setting the watch ceremony occurs at 9'O clock each evening with the blowing of a horn in the market square. Day Three Ripon to Pocklington 45 miles Today will see us ride right past York Minister and the Treasurers House and through the historic village of Stamford Bridge. Gentle riding now the hills are behind us. Day Four Pocklington to Bridlington 47 miles With the smell of sea air in our nostrils, today we cycle on fairly flat and extremely quiet roads through the glorious and under explored Yorkshire wolds. A celebratory ride into Bridlington with a dip of the front wheels in the North Sea concludes this fantastic new coast to coast route.
